Santa’s 12 Tips for Celebrating Christmas- “Color Your Christmas”

Dreading those holiday hassles? While there is so much to enjoy during the holidays – kids coming home, the colorful sights and delicious smells of the season, the anticipation – it can get overwhelming. Today begins 12 days of blog posts featuring my “Santa’s 12 Tips for Celebrating Christmas”. These are clay sculptures I created which have been made into Christmas cards. 

The name of this blog and our company is Be Brave. Lose the Beige which tries to  inspire and encourage Lady Boomers (and anyone else who will listen) to live their lives creatively and with fun. So why shouldn’t the holidays be celebrated in the same way?

The first of Santa’s 12 tips (see image below) is called, “Color Your Christmas” and features Santa Claus draped in colorful Christmas Lights, the message being, keep the color and delight in the holiday season.  

 Hope your holiday this year is “ideal”.

It’s December 31st, 2011.  The holidays are coming to a close.  Here are Santa’s final tips for celebrating the holidays:

Santa’s Tip #11-Enjoy Your Family-  Pause amid the holiday chaos and spend precious time with those you love.  (My Dad died this year.  I’m thankful I spent Christmas Eve with him last year and many years before).

Tip #12-  Toast yourself for living through one of the worst economic years in our history.

Santa’s Tip#7 for Celebrating the Holidays- “Eat Forbidden Foods”

 Santa’s tip- Take a vacation from dieting during this holiday season. Experts” admonish us to avoid fatty foods and to exercise several times a week. To our credit, we do our best to follow their well intentioned advice. But dieting all the time gets boring.  If you find yourself craving chocolates  go ahead, indulge the urge. Soon enough you will be back in a dieting mode again. Santa’s tips in this series are about “ideally living”. Spend some time this season to define what “ideally living” means to you. Usually it’s about achieving balance in your life. In this instance it’s about finding the balance between over-indulgence and absolute denial. Happy eating…
